Low‑tox standards, two salons, levy & discount, bookings

What makes George & Ivy a low‑tox salon?

Every colour, treatment and styling product on our shelf is screened against a do‑no‑harm brief. If a product doesn't meet our threshold for ingredient safety, environmental impact and supply chain ethics, it doesn't get used at George & Ivy. We've held this position since the day we opened in 2018.

Where are your two Fremantle salons?

George & Ivy East Fremantle is at 2B Council Place, East Fremantle WA 6158 (late nights Thursdays until 8pm). George & Ivy Central Fremantle is at 16A Bannister Street in the West End, closed Mondays. Both salons offer the full service menu.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking is online via our Timely system at bookings.gettimely.com/georgeivy/book, or by phone on 0411 338 920 for East Fremantle and 0460 931 374 for Central Fremantle. Walk-ins are welcomed when we have space but a chair is never guaranteed.

What is the $3 sustainability levy?

Every booking carries a $3 sustainability levy. It funds our carbon‑neutral certification, the in‑salon recycling program, and the offset of every appointment's footprint. It is the smallest line on your invoice and the one we are most proud of.

Do you really give a discount for arriving by bike?

Yes. Arrive on foot or under your own steam — bike, scooter, skate, anything human‑powered — and take 5% off your service. No proof needed, just mention it at the desk. Fremantle is walkable, and we'd rather you didn't drive.

I've never had low‑tox colour. Will the results look as good?

Yes, and our Australian Hair Industry Awards back that up. Best Eco Salon of the Year in 2019, 2024 and 2025, and Best WA / NT Salon of the Year in 2023. Low‑tox does not mean low‑result. It means the work holds up against the brief, the photograph, and your conscience.

Can I book a free consultation before committing?

Always. For colour, balayage, extensions or any first visit, we strongly recommend a free in‑salon consultation. Fifteen minutes, no charge, no obligation. It saves regret and lets us scope the work properly.

Colour

From $65 · Free 15‑min consult before every colour booking

Full service page
Do you do balayage in Fremantle?

Balayage is a signature service at George & Ivy. Half balayage starts at $210, full balayage at $240. Every balayage begins with a free 15‑minute consultation so we can match the placement to your face shape, hair texture and lifestyle.

Can I bring a colour reference photo?

We encourage it. Three or four reference photos help us calibrate tone, contrast and dimension. We'll also photograph your hair as it is today, so we have a clear starting point for the work and you have a record of the journey.

How long does a colour appointment take?

Re‑growth alone is about ninety minutes. A full balayage with toning and a treatment runs three to four hours. Your consultation is where we lock in the exact timing and book the chair accordingly.

Cut & Style · Ladies

From $127 · Stylist tier $127 through Director $162–$192

Full service page
What does tier‑based pricing actually mean?

Our cut prices step down by stylist seniority: Director $162–$192, Style Director $147–$167, Senior Stylist $137, Stylist $127. Every stylist in our team has trained inside George & Ivy and works to the same brief. Pick the tier that suits your budget.

Do you offer wedding hair?

Yes, by consultation. We do on‑site styling and in‑salon trials. Book a trial four to six weeks before the wedding day so we can refine the look together and lock in the timing for the morning.

Do you cut girls' hair?

Girls aged 12 to 15 are welcome on weekdays for $75–$120 depending on length and stylist tier. We don't take kids' bookings under 12 at the moment, sorry.

Cut & Style · Gents

Gents cut $60–$82 · Boys 12–15 $50–$70

Full service page
Do I need to book a gents cut or can I walk in?

Walk‑ins are welcomed when we have space, but a chair is never guaranteed. For Saturdays and Thursday late nights especially, we'd strongly recommend booking ahead.

Do you cut boys' hair?

Boys aged 12 to 15 are welcome on weekdays for $50–$70. We don't offer kids' cuts under 12 at the moment.

Can you blend my greys without colouring my whole head?

Yes — that's exactly what our Mens Camouflage Colour ($60–$70) is for. A subtle, natural blend that softens the grey without committing you to ongoing colour maintenance.

Treatments

From $20 · Single visit or 4‑pack package

Full service page
Which treatment is right for damaged hair?

The O Way Infrared Rebuilding Treatment ($80) is our heaviest‑weight rebuild — the one we book for hair that has been through it. For ongoing maintenance the H‑Milk ($40) is a great mid‑service add‑on. For coloured hair, an Olaplex in‑colour treatment ($90) protects bonds during the lightening process.

Can I add a treatment to my colour appointment?

Yes. An Olaplex basin treatment ($40) or an O Way infrared session is the most common pairing and adds fifteen to forty‑five minutes to your appointment. Mention it at booking and we'll book the chair accordingly.

Is the 4‑pack package worth it?

If your hair is in genuine rebuild mode, yes — the 4‑pack works out at $87.50 per treatment versus $100 single‑visit on the Infrared Remedy. Four sessions across two to three months is the rhythm we recommend for a complete reset.

Permanent Treatments

Fabriq straightening $270–$470 · Straightening system $270–$300 · Remedy 4‑pack $350

Full service page
What is the Fabriq straightening treatment?

Fabriq is our newest permanent straightening treatment, priced $270–$470 depending on hair length and density. It smooths texture and takes the frizz out for months at a time. Like every permanent service at George & Ivy it needs a consultation first, where we strand‑test your hair and quote you in full. If you want smoothing without the permanent commitment, ask about the Fabriq smoothing treatment ($80–$100) on our treatments menu instead.

Is permanent straightening safe for fine hair?

That's exactly why we require a consultation first. We strand‑test, assess porosity and condition, and only proceed if your hair is a good candidate. If it isn't, we'll recommend an Infrared Remedy package instead and explain why.

How long does the straightening system last?

Typically four to six months depending on hair growth, hair type and how you maintain the hair at home. We provide a full aftercare brief at the appointment and recommend a check‑in at the three‑month mark.

Why is a consultation required before I can book?

Because we will not run a permanent service on hair that won't take it well. The consult protects your hair, your money and our reputation. It is free, it is short, and it is the only way we run this service.

Hair Extensions

Price on consultation · Free 15‑min consult

Full service page
Why do you only use Great Lengths?

Great Lengths pre‑bonded extensions are the gold standard for invisible application and longevity. They use 100% ethically sourced human hair and a keratin bonding system that doesn't damage the natural strand. We've tried the alternatives — for our standard, only Great Lengths makes the cut.

How long do the extensions last?

Four to six months with the right aftercare. We'll book a halfway check‑in to make sure the bonds are still sitting cleanly and the colour match still reads correctly as your roots grow through.

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

Not when they're fit properly and looked after properly. Great Lengths bonds are designed to flex with your hair, not pull on it. We'll only fit extensions on hair that is in good enough condition to take them — that's what the consult is for.
